Hi, I’m Richard!
There’s nothing I love to do more than crash on the couch at home, on a freshly rotated cushion, and watch movies and television, read a book, play video games, or listen to a seemingly endless array of albums deep into the night (and sometimes the morning).
Sometimes it’s all consuming – an impediment on my own hopeful progress to “take the world by storm.” An addiction almost.
Almost.
So, I created a place to egg on my gluttonous behavior. A place of my own making where I could get a deeper understanding of the arts that make life worth living, to think more critically of the things that rule my life – that I am infatuated with – and to write about it, and to become a better writer in the process. Will you join me on this journey? I sure hope so, I’d love to have you.
Another place I often find myself is around a campfire (though not as often as I’d like). Through childhood, there were often campfires with family, friends, and neighbors. The center of good stories, jokes, or politics. An education for a boy, similar to, one might guess, our ancient forebears.
In light of this, I present to you Campfire Diary. Away with ratings and negative nonsense. If I don’t like it, why spend the time writing about it? I have enough on my mind – thank you very much. I will discuss the things that keep me going, that spur me on, and hopefully offer some insight.
So enjoy! Celebrate with me! Submit comments that add a new or interesting perspective. I would like to learn something from this after all. I’ll have a look at what you have to say and add it if it seems appropriate and worthwhile.
You get what you put in – a sentiment that has followed me from educational institutions to film sets to this office. The same things seem to remain profoundly true.
Anyway, happy reading!
